So there is a strange little game on steam early access called Kindergarten. It seems innocent enough, play through a day of a little boy in kindergarten. No big deal. But the school is strange, the people there are stranger, and you might just die on
any given day and it is always the same Monday. Welcome to Kindergarten.
As described on the Steam page:
“Kindergarten is an abstract puzzle adventure game. You play as a student in a school that’s a bit…off. The teacher is trying to get rid of her kids. the janitor is frequently seen cleaning up blood. The cafeteria is serving the same slop over and over again. Kids are walking around with strange devices planted on them after visiting the principal, and one of your fellow classmates has gone missing. It’s up to you to figure out what’s going on, because your life might depend on it.”
Bascily, you play the same day over and over, trying different things.
You only have so 
many actions you can do per scene, so you usually have to play through each scene a few times to see everything you can do. You can save some things between playthroughs, that will allow you to progress certain storylines father each time you play.Along the way, you can make friends, play house, have show and tell, be bullied, investigate a murder, be murdered, help murder, deal drugs to your teacher, and eat lunch. Just your regular day at Kindergarten.
The controls of the game are nothing too complicated, as they do not have to be. Move around, talk to people, make choices when given the option. Nothing too heavy or action oriented.
The graphics are kinda cutsie and colorful, with a simple style that lends itself to the kid friendly environment and is a fun contrast to the dark underbelly of the game. Nothing to complex, but it fits the theme and I like it. The same is true of the sound. Nothing too advanced but it gets the job done.
The meat of the game is the gameplay and is one of those things most players will either love or hate as it is a play the same basic story over and over. It is the variations that make it fun, but some players might get bored quick with the same scenes played over and over, even with the variations.
Overall, I like the game and find it fun playing through the different lines of the possible story. The humor is dark and strange and that resonates with me as well. It is early access still which I know drives some people away, but it is fairly stable and hopefully, it will get even better as the developer works on it. Even if it was released now though, it would play it and have a great time.. in Kindergarten.
